Great Service
What makes Gator City is the people that work there. Brad, even though he flunked out of barber college and he"s a bit of a "close talker", is a hell of a GM. I wish he would stop wearing those hockey jerseys though. That Dutch is one strapping hunk of man. Marshall needs to work on his basketball game, but he"s not bad for a short irishman. Him and Danny should have a tournament.

Will always be Porp
5 beers for Porpoise, 1 beer for Gator City in originality... The problem is not that people don"t give this place a chance. Its that-its EXACTLY the same as Porpoise, same look, same specials, same food, same trivia. So why did they change it? Because kids stopped going b/c the new fad in town opened, as always. Gainesville students now are TOO fickle. Porpoise existed for years being very popular and then fell out of existence. All of a sudden they reopen with a new name, and because its new, its hot again. Until the newer students form any sort of loyalty, the same thing will happen. And to any TRUE Gator, it will always be the Purple Porpoise or the College Inn if its real old school.... Gator City is just a mask...

Why not try..
Okay, everyone misses the Porpoise. Lets look at it from another point of view. On any given weekend over 2,000 students and alumni walk through a night. What does that say about the new bar??? Those of you who remember the Porpoise from your college career are the same kind of people who will remember Gator City when they look back at their own college career. Give a chance.

Ehhh
I think this bar really doesnt have much personality. They call it Gator City, but they really don"t play that up too much. Kinda lame. Could be much better, and the place is on sacred ground too. That is one of the most coveted places to have a bar in Gainesville, like 2 blocks from the Stadium. Gainesville deserves better..

A crying Shame
It is a shame the Porpoise will be gone. I have had my problems with how the place has been managed recently but, it is a local landmark, ask anyone who has ever been to Gainesville and they know the Porpoise. The new owners crazy to change the name.

Good Riddens
I'm glad the Porpoise is gone... It's time for everyone to stop living in the past and let some new owners take a shot at this prime location on University Ave. Change is GOOD... Porpoise is BAD

Por-poise Poise-poor?No way myan!
There's never a dull moment at the Porpoise.Except for when it's dull. X,the crazy owner, wants this place to be all things to all people. As a result the bar has somewhat of an identity crisis. Is it an oyster pub? A sports bar? A live rock venue?A pool hall?A video game fronton? Latin dance club? The mixed approach has predictably mixed results.Slumming frat-boys n' gals, rednecks, football players, poolsharks, floozies,English grad students,bone-nosed kids waiting for the all ages show, jarheads, grifters, regular Joes, reprobates and ne'er-do-wells of every ilk inhabit the place in staggered(and staggering)shifts. One constant is Andy who, blubbery and walrus-like,remains perched at the bar bellowing for more beer. Despite its obvious shortcomings, the Porpoise remains my favorite human zoo in Gainesville.
